Krug Grande Cuvée Edition 169 is ultra-sophisticated in its silky, smooth style. The aromas are so complex and nuanced rather than pronounced that they are difficult to name. White flowers, mandarin, green apple, peach, lemon, vanilla, honey, nougat and gingerbread come to mind.
Krug Grande Cuvee Edition 169 is a blend of 146 separately vinified parcels from 11 different vintages. The cuvée consists largely of 2013. The oldest wine used in it is a 2000 Chardonnay from Villers-Marmery. The grape varieties consist of 43% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 22% Pinot Meunier. The very old Pinot Meuniers from the 2008 vintage in Saint-Gemme are a particularly important part of the cuvée, says cellar master Julie Cavil.
