Sipp Mack Riesling Rosacker 2014
The Grand Cru Rosacker is perhaps the most famous of Riesling Grands Crus in Alsace. At least it produces the most coveted wine that Trimbach produce from the subsection called Clos Saint Hune. The soil is very high in lime and of all Grand Cru in Alsace it ripens latest. This implies lower alcohols, better acidity and fresher aromas that are dominated by lemon and citrus fruit but also have strong floral elements reminscent of wild roses. They have a firm mineral structure that requires cellarage to attain perfect balance.
Jacques Sipp and his wife Laura are the 9th generations to run the estate sincesince 1698. The vineyards cover 22 hectares located around Hunawihr, Ribeauvillé and Bergheim. The terroirs are varied but essentially calcareous clay. All harvesting is by hand. The Sipps converted the domaine to organic farming and have been certified since 2013.
