Personal advice
Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2015
The Grande Dame 2015 has a nutty appeal with a hint of caramel, which is underpinned by an unusually precise, salty minerality for the vintage. Like 2012, this vintage is also surprisingly accessible when young, which indicates a deliberate reorganisation of the yeasts. Nevertheless, the Grande Dame 2015 will only reach its peak in 10 to 15 years.
The winespectator 95 This graceful Champagne offers hints of smoke and toasted brioche that transition to patisserie apple and blackberry fruit, candied ginger and mandarin orange peel notes. Seamlessly knit and mouthwatering, with a minerally underpinning and a finely detailed, dotted bead. Lush and creamy on the vibrant, lasting finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2035.
Richard Juhlin 95 champagneclub.com (drink now 93)This is a brilliant example of how, with the right selection, you can manage to avoid the slightly contourless features and excessively soft, slightly plump maturity that 2015 usually brings. With the rockiest and coolest locations in Verzy, one maintain a sea saltiness and minerality like no other this year. At the same time, there is a chocolate-saturated and nutty butterscotch-draped charm right from the start. The wine will reach its peak well into the future, but is already intellectually fascinating and delicious.
