Champagne Charlie is a unique series of 5 vintages of a Prestige Cuvee in memory of the famous founder Charles Camille Heidsieck, whose life is adventurous in an almost unreal way. Following the spirit of the times, a Blanc de Blancs is introduced as another Prestige Cuvee, eventually displacing Champagne Charly as the Chardonnay grapes are used for the Blanc des Millenaires. The reputation of this Champagne is legendary. Of the few remaining bottles, 150 Jeroboams were released to the world this year, disgorged in 2020. So it's no surprise that the perlage is lively and, having absorbed the dosage, it now has a wonderful fresh, harmonious acidity that is perfectly integrated into the silky, full palate. The flavours are incredibly complex, spanning citrus, tabaka, hazelnut, almond brittle, salt caramel and undergrowth. We are not used to such prices in Champagne, but here you see one of the last opportunities to taste a champagne as it no longer exists and the three litres are enough for 20 champagne friends who want to join together for a tasting.
