Laurent Perrier la Cuvee

This edition of Laurent Perrier la Cuvee is mainly based on the 2018 and is better than can be expected from this very reliable champagne. Lemon, apricot, toasted bread and yeasty flavours are combined with a tingling minerality. La Cuvee consists of at least half Chardonnay, 30 to 35 % Pinot Noir and 10 to 15 % Pinot Meunier. Only the free-run must, called "Cuvee" in Champagne, is used, not the pressed must. 20 to 30 % reserve wines are used and the ageing time in the cellars is unusually long at four years.  Richard Juhlin rates it 81(85), which is rather high for a standard cuvee.
