Lanson Noble Cuvee 2005
Lanson Noble Cuvee 2005 - also labelled as Noble Champagne - is in a wonderful drinking window. Wonderfully complex flavours of hazelnut, dark chocolate, coffee, red apple, vanilla and caramel are accompanied by a racy acidity and salty minerality. Lanson Champagnes can be particularly acidic when young. But in the rather low-acid 2005 vintage, the absence of malolactic fermentation is probably the reason for the incredible freshness of Noble Cuvee. For all its harmony, it is a champagne that arouses emotions. From the very first sip, it gives you a kick that makes you want another glass.
Noble Cuvee or Noble Champagne - differs from the great Clos Lanson due to its longer ageing on the lees. The basis is 70% Chardonnay from the Avize, Cramant, Chouilly, Le Mesnil and Oger vineyards. Added to this is 30% Pinot Noir from Verzenay.
