Cuvee William Deutz 2008
The Cuvee William Deutz is one of the great classics of Champagne, which never disappoints and in 2008 is of such class that one wonders how discreetly the house has to work so that such a champagne is not the talk of the town. 62 % Pinot Noir from Ay, Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay, 34 % Chardonnay from Avize and Mesnil and 4 % Pinot Meunier from Pierry make up the composition of the cuvee. It is a champagne of classic structure, complexity and depth that will develop wonderfully long, but already has its charm: Yellow fruits such as peach and mirabelle are complemented by discreetly yeasty, nutty notes, which then transition into the mineral, citrusy, long finish. The fine mousse initially supports a creamy palate sensation, but then moves on to chalky minerality and racy acidity.
