Bollinger la Grande Annee Rose 2015

Bollinger la Grande Annee Rose 2015

2015 is not a popular vintage in Champagne at the moment. I find it annoying what a short term view professional critics take with their vintage ratings. 2015 has flabby wines from grapes picked too late, unripe wines from grapes picked too early. And then there is Bollinger and shows the virtues of a classic hot vintage as they have in 1976 and numerious other years. Bollinger la Grande Annee Rose 2015 has an inncredible nose of orange zest,  mandarine, hazelnut, nougat, cherry, pomerange. It has very good acidity for such a ripe, warm year. The palate is rich with an irresistable mix of red fruit and citrus fruit. Cherry meets orange and pink grapefruit. It has good structure and even some phenolic gripe. and phenolic grip on the aftertaste. The dosage is quite apparent. 2012 is racier and more elegant. Here there is terrific concentration and structure behind the baby flesh. Drink over the next two years for the intensity of fruit or forget in the cellar for ten years.
