Description

Geoges Noellats Nuits Saint Georges aux Cras 2016 is now in a wonderful drinking window. Red and black fruits are underpinned by discreet notes of truffle and forest sedge. The tannins are still noticeable on the finish at first, but disappear completely into the silky palate with a little aeration. The acidity is also perfectly integrated and lends freshness to the lush fruit and length to the palate. This Pinot Noir is an experience. It will be at its best over the next five years. If you are looking for less fruit and more earthy flavours, you can keep it longer.

Aux Cras is a little-known Premier Cru site on the border with Vosne-Romané, whose wines are silky and elegant with a good structure. The Boudots site in the immediate vicinity has more tannins, as is typical of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Aux Cras is finer and is already very similar to the Vosne-Romanée wines. Unfortunately, Maxime Cheurlin, who took over the estate from his grandmother, was unable to renew the lease for the vineyard. 2016 is the penultimate year.
