The 170th Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée is composed of 195 different wines from twelve vintages spanning 1998 to 2014. Under the guidance of Chef de Caves Julie Cavil, the team tasted the 250 wines of the 2014 base vintage and the approximately 150 reserve wines multiple times to create the final blend. Despite the significant proportion of reserve wines and the house’s distinctive traditional methods, every Édition reflects the unique personality of its base year.
For Julie Cavil, 2014 is a vintage defined by charm, fruit and elegance. Accordingly, the selected wines perfectly embody these qualities: fine, ripe fruit, a gentle yet precise structure, and a lively but never aggressive acidity. The result is a Grande Cuvée that is already very approachable and seductive today, while still carrying the classic Krug capacity for long-term ageing.
