Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle Itération 25

The Most Important in Brief

The 26th edition of Grand Siècle shows the combination of power and concentration with fine, mineral notes that have always distinguished Grand Siècle. It is aromatically more developed and with its beautiful fruit already more enjoyable young than one is used to. Like Edition 25, Edition 26 also shows this new style that moves with the spirit of the times without abandoning the classic values. You can drink it in the fruit phase or age it for a while if you appreciate nutty, complex aromas.

With 65 % of the 2012 vintage and 25 % 2008 – 2007 as the third vintage in the cuvée – long-lived wines with powerful acidity dominate the assemblage. The change in fermentation yeasts expands the aromatic spectrum, which shows notes of lemons (including zest), fine roasted notes, vanilla and patisserie. This is enough for 100 points from James Suckling.

Key facts

  • Edition 25: Base 2012 (65 %), 2008 (25 %), 2007 (10 %)
  • approx. 55–60 % Chardonnay, 40–45 % Pinot Noir
  • Grand Cru sites: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Cramant, Oger (Chardonnay) as well as Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzy, Mailly, Tours-sur-Marne (Pinot Noir)
  • 10 years lees ageing
  • Dosage: 7 g/l
  • Disgorged: October 2021
  • Fermentation and ageing exclusively in stainless steel tanks
  • Malolactic fermentation carried out
  • Drinking window: now to 2043

The 2008 Vintage

2008 is marked by cool weather. In summer, sunny days alternate with cloudy ones. Only very warm September weather allows the grapes to ripen perfectly. Since the nights in September are already cold, the year combines very high sugar levels with high acidity levels. Due to the slow ripening, complex aromas have formed. This structured year with intense acidity requires patience.
