Description

Sophisticated Blanc de Blanc from Le Mesnil

Refined oak spice complements lemon and white bread aromas

This wine is in transit to our cellars, therefore delivery takes a little longer. André Jacquart Mesnil Experience Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Grand Cru is an expressive, refined champagne made from Chardonnay grapes from the Le Mesnil vineyard. Le Mesnil is not only classified as a Grand Cru, but is considered the best Grand Cru vineyard for Chardonnay in the entire Champagne region, even ahead of Avize. Krug's Clos du Mesnil and Salon have certainly contributed to this assessment. Immediately after pouring, the fine, long-lasting perlage is noticeable. The nose offers a complex bouquet in which fruity aromas of lemon, white peach and yellow apple mingle with white flowers, white bread and brioche. The aromas are a sign of five years of yeast maturation. On the palate, the lively minerality and well-integrated acidity are immediately noticeable and Le Mesnil Expérience gains fruity richness in the mid palate. The fruit gives way to spicy, smoky note in the second half of the palate to finish on a note of salty minerality. This Extra Brut with very low dosage is characterised by its harmony and refined use of wood, which rounds off the minerality of Le Mesnil and complements it with a complex spiciness.

The Doyard family focuses on their work and is not involved in the sommelier scene, which helps some champagne start-ups achieve rapid fame, meaning that the house is known only to a few connoisseurs. André Jacquart produces wines in the Burgundian style, as it is known in Champagne. This refers to the ageing of wines in partly new wooden barrels, as introduced by Anselme Selosse. Jacquart washes the barrels to avoid excessive wood aromas. Most of these have already been used once or twice in Burgundy. Under Marie Doyard's leadership, André Jacquart has become one of the most interesting houses in the Côte de Blancs working in the Selosse style.
