Description
  • One of the stars of the 2008 vintage of the century
  • Already impressive today, potential for decades

Pol Roger Winston Churchill 2008

The Most Important in Brief

After a little aeration, already magnificent now.

Winston Churchill 2008 is already seductive, without questioning its great future. It went through a more difficult phase, which Richard Juhlin described as "knotted", which explains his conservative rating of 91(95). For us, it is one of the best Champagnes of this extraordinary vintage. It is already fabulous now.

Key facts

  • 75 % Pinot Noir, 25 % Chardonnay
  • Grand Crus: Verzenay, Bouzy, Aÿ, Avize and Le Mesnil
  • Disgorged in summer 2017
  • Dosage: 8 g/l
  • Alcohol: 12.5%
  • Fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks
  • Malolactic fermentation carried out
  • Drinking window: now to 2058

The 2008 Vintage in Champagne

2008 is marked by cool weather. In summer, sunny days alternate with cloudy ones. Only very warm September weather allows the grapes to ripen perfectly. Since the nights in September are already cold, the year combines very high sugar levels with high acidity levels. Due to the slow ripening, complex aromas have formed. This structured year with intense acidity requires patience.
