Pol Roger Vintage 2018

Pol Roger Vintage 2018
Pol Rogers Vintage is reliably good and hardly more expensive than some NV base cuvées. It can be drunk young with its full fruit and creamy palate. If you let it mature for five years in the cellar, or a little more depending on the vintage, it has wonderful flavours: lightly roasted hazelnuts, nougat, gianduja and orange peel, and there is much more to discover. The dosage recedes, it becomes more mineral, more precise and finer.

2018 is also a typical Pol Roger vintage experience. Yeasty brioche notes, lemon, pear, almonds and lime blossom stimulate the sense of smell. On the palate, it shows a creamy, lush fruit of peach and mirabelle plum with a light citrus flavour. After a few hours of aeration, it picks up enormously. The palate becomes more precise and mineral and exciting flavours of caramel, nougat and hazelnuts develop in the second half of the palate.
