The Comtes de Champagne Rose 2012 consists of 60% Pinot from the famous Grand Crus Bouzy, combining body and ripe Pinot Noir aromas with unusual chalky freshness. Our Paul Bara champagnes are the benchmark for the class of Bouzy. Pinot Noir. The 40% Chardonnay comes from Avize, Chouilly, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. The colour comes from the 14% red still wine from Bouzy. About 5% of the base wines are aged in oak barrels, a third of which are new. This gives the red wine a special aromatic intensity.
The nose is dense and complex, with subtle iodine nuances and precise aromatics. With increasing aeration, a bouquet of juicy black fruits, cherry and delicate acacia blossoms unfolds. Seductive hints of gingerbread, mandarin peel, mint and liquorice blend with refreshing notes of noble spices such as turmeric and saffron. The palate reveals a subtly fruity attack that transitions into a full, harmonious structure with silky tannins. The minerality of the Chardonnay gives this rosé champagne a fine balance of aromatic precision, freshness and elegant fruit intensity.
