Richard Geoffroy has seized the opportunity to create a champagne from the perfect grapes of the vintage that is clearly above and beyond what can be expected from the Grand Vintage. The Moet et Chandon Grand Vintage 2008 shows the finesse and structure of this great champagne vintage. It is now beginning to open up. The bouquet is very inviting: lemon, grapefruit, green apple, almonds, toast and pear pour from the glass. The perlage is very fine. The palate is precise and mineral-focussed. It shows flavours of toast, lemon, green tea and ginger. The finish shows that it is extra brut. The finish is very long and fresh with a salty minerality. It is extremely fine and subtle and promises to develop positively over many years and develop more complex, nutty notes.
