Anne Gros owns vineyards in one of the best locations in Clos Vougeot. Grand Maupertui is a plot of just under 0.93 hectares in the famous Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru. It is located above the château, below the wall that separates Clos de Vougeot from Grands Echezeaux at this point. The Gros family has owned it since 1905. The soils are deep, loamy and interspersed with stones, which promotes optimal drainage and a powerful style. The vines are on average around 70 years old, a rarity in Burgundy.
1995 is a concentrated, very structured vintage, so Anne Gros' Clos-de-Vougeot 1995 is only now reaching its peak. At this time, Anne is experimenting with a high proportion of new wood. This does not always result in harmonious wines. The 1995 has long since perfectly integrated the wood. Its aromas are characterised by red fruits, cherries and spices, but floral notes are also evident. This is an outstanding Clos de Vougeot.
