Delamotte Blanc de Blancs

The Delamotte Blanc de Blancs is particularly successful in this edition, which is based on the 2020 vintage. Although the cuvée consists only of the Grands Crus Avize, Cramant, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Delamotte does not cultivate a fixed, structured style. Delamotte stands for a creamy palate that envelops the mineral freshness in a silky mouthfeel. These elegant champagnes can sometimes be almost too light and smooth. Not so here. The intense aromas of ripe lemon are accompanied by vanilla, yeasty brioche and a delicate almond tone. The palate is not only creamy, but also has a lively, mineral tension. As lovely as it is to drink now, we recommend letting at least a few bottles mature in the cellar for a few years.

The house of Delamotte was founded in 1760 and is one of the five oldest in Champagne. At the end of the 1940s, it was purchased by the de Nonancourt family, who also own Laurent-Perrier. In 1989, Delamotte merged with Salon.

Delamotte now owns six hectares in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, including in Avize, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. The grapes for Delamotte champagnes come exclusively from the Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs, and the chalky character of the soils is clearly evident in the champagne. The base wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks and mature on the lees for at least three years. The long lees ageing gives them a creamy palate and a fine perlage, as well as their distinctive lemon-dominated aroma spectrum.
