Bara represents Bouzy like no other house. Bouzy stands for lush Pinot Noirs with chalky freshness. Bara is also particularly well known for its rosé champagnes. The old Pinot Noir vines in Bouzy give off aromas of red currants, cherries, wild strawberries, pepper and roses. The remaining 20% Chardonnay in the cuvée adds freshness. Malolactic fermentation is not carried out. The creamy, full palate is permeated by a fresh acidity. The sparkling minerality can be felt on the tongue. After three years on the lees, the Grand Rose de Bouzy is very fresh with lively perlage. Some prefer it at this stage. With increasing bottle ageing, three years being ideal, almond and toasted notes develop. After five years, nutty, smoky Pinot Noir aromas emerge.

The Paul Bara winery, family-run since 1833, is one of the most renowned winemakers in Champagne. In 1959, it was named the best Blanc de Noirs of all time by Richard Juhlin. The Bara Grand Rose de Bouzy has a wonderful fruitiness and an intense mineral freshness. The Grand Rose de Bouzy gets its colour from 12 percent still red wine, which is added after bottle fermentation. It is aged in steel tanks.
