Comtes de Champagne 2005 is now in a wonderful drinking window
Full-bodied and intense, with aromas of lemon, nut, and caramel
Fruit and mineral freshness are perfectly balanced with ripe roasted flavours. Beneath the lemon and peach notes lies a deeper layer of the smoky notes of toast and roasted hazelnuts. The roasted notes are present on the nose and in the second half of the palate, without diminishing the creamy fruity experience. They only add depth and complexity. The palate is creamy and full, but shows mineral contours on the finish before ending on a note of caramel. Comtes Blanc de Blancs 2005 is already so seductive that you would drink its last bottles if you didn't know how extremely long-lived this champagne is and what flavours still await you.
The Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs is made exclusively from the famous Grand Cru vineyards of the Côte de Blanc. Taittinger succeeds perfectly in blending the fruit of Oger and the buttery richness of Chouilly with the mineral energy and structure of le Mesnil and Avize. This Blanc de Blancs style conveys depth, complexity and precision in a particularly pleasurable way. Only Blanc de Millenaires can come close to matching it. Comtes de Champagne was first released in 1952. Considering that Salon was not available on the market at that time, it is the first Blanc de Blancs Prestige Cuvée. It is extremely storable and develops unique flavours reminiscent of smoke, truffles and nuts after several decades.
2005 was a generally warm, dry and sunny vintage in Champagne with some climatic challenges: Botrytis formed after rainfall in late August and September. However, this mainly affected the blue varieties. It was a very good year for Chardonnay.
When you purchase 6 bottles, it can be delivered in a superbly crafted wooden case.
