- The best of the recent Comtes de Champagne vintages.
- Already astonishingly good today, with enormous potential.
The intense fruit aromas of lemon, pineapple, passion fruit, and peach are supported by mint and very delicate toasted notes. The presence on the palate is impressive. The 2013 Comtes de Champagne has body and richness as well as concentration. It needs the distinctive acidity and minerality to achieve the impression of perfect balance. We have rarely experienced a more intense Blanc de Blancs.
The 2013 vintage is a big one in the Côte de Blancs, on par with 2008. The winter was colder than usual and there was snow. Spring remained cool and wet. Flowering did not begin until the end of July. An extremely sunny and warm summer helped the vines make up for these earlier delays. The Chardonnay harvest began on October 1, which is late anyway. Today, the harvest usually begins in August.
Comtes de Champagne has been the premier prestige Blanc de Blancs since its first vintage in 1952. Salon already existed, but it was not available for sale to the general public. Along with Clos du Mesnil, it remains the best Blanc de Blancs to this day.
