One of the finest Blanc de Blancs in Champagne
Ultra-rich, with intense fruitiness and a very creamy palate
The style is characterised by super-ripe lemons and caramelised nut notes. The acidity is racy, but unlike Comtes, minerality is not the main focus. It is full-bodied, lush, with a creamy palate. Just as one would imagine Madonna's favourite champagne to be.
Deutz now belongs to Louis Roederer, and both houses adhere to the highest quality standards. Amour de Deutz was first launched at the turn of the millennium with the 1993 vintage. The aim is to create a very attractive style with a wide drinking window, as exemplified by Dom Perignon. But due to the pure Chardonnay content it is more similar to Blanc des Millenaires (1990, 1995, not 2014 and 2007).It is best suited to fish dishes ranging from sushi and sashimi to lobster.
Amour de Deutz is made from old vines in Grand Cru sites in Le Mesnil sur Oger and Avize and a tiny proportion from the 95% rated 1er Cru Villers Marmery in the Grande Montagne de Reims. It is aged in tank and undergoes malolactic fermentation. The 2008 vintage is a classic that they better let mature for a few more years. After that, it will be a silky seducer with lemony, nutty aromas.
