After a few hours of aeration, the 2010 Brunello reveals a seductive fruit, that of leather, tobacco, cinnamon. It is already seductive, but promises many more years of drinking pleasure.

The Conti Costanti winery has its origins in an old Sienese patrician family that settled in Montalcino in the mid-16th century and cultivated important estates and vineyards there. In the 19th century, the Costanti family were among the pioneers who first brought wine onto the market under the name Brunello, thus contributing to the history and development of Brunello di Montalcino.

Today, Andrea Costanti, the sixth generation of the family, runs the business. The estate covers around 25 hectares, of which around 10 hectares are planted with vines, mainly of the local Sangiovese variety (known as Brunello). Around 3 hectares are also planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Andrea Costanti attaches great importance to authenticity and elegance; the wines are characterised by aromatic expressiveness and terroir typicity.

The wines from Conti Costanti are traditionally characterised, elegant and at the same time concentrated with good ageing potential. The winery mainly produces Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino, with the Rosso usually acting as a kind of second wine to the Brunello.

Vinification and ageing period: The Brunello di Montalcino from Conti Costanti is a pure Sangiovese Grosso that matures for around 48 months, including around 18 months in large oak barrels, followed by a further ageing period.

Antonio Galloni vinous.com 97 Andrea Costanti's Brunello di Montalcino 2010 is fabulous. The purity and translucence of Sangiovese comes through beautifully as the wine opens up. Refined, pedigreed and exceptionally beautiful, the Costanti pretty much embodies what 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is all about. Reference point Brunello.
