- A great Syrah with a fascinating range of aromas
- Delas now ranks alongside Guigal and Chapoutier among the elite of Rhône wine producers
The Cote Rotie Seigneur de Maugiron 2019 displays aromas of black and red currants, cherries, blueberries, violets, liquorice, smoky notes, black olives and violets. The palate has a juicy fruitiness, smooth tannins and spicy notes on the finish. This seductive Syrah is already a delight. It will continue to develop positively for another 10 to 15 years.
It is produced from steep slopes in the Côte Brune and Blonde and is aged in new and one-year-old barriques. Cellar master Jacques Grange does not pursue a super-ripe, concentrated style, but focuses on balance and a clear expression of the terroir. Cote Rotie wines harmonise particularly well with ageing in new wood. Guigal's single vineyards, especially La Turque, have established this previously rather unknown region among connoisseurs, in contrast to Hermitage.
