- Celebris Rose is Gosset's finest champagne and 2008 is a great year
- With a little aeration, this is a full-bodied rose with seductive aromas
Gosset Celebris has only been available as a rosé in four vintages since it first came onto the market 25 years ago. This year, it is again mainly a Chardonnay, accounting for 72% of the blend. Of the 28% Pinot Noir, 20% is Champagne and 8% is red still wine from Ambonnay, Bouzy and Cumieres. The nose has notes of strawberry, pepper, peach and apricot. Cherry and blood orange dominate the palate, creating a fresh overall impression that is supported by the low dosage of 6.5 g. The freshness is also evident in the mineral, salty finish. The Chardonnay comes from Avize, Cramant, Cuis, Vertus, Trepail and Villers Mamery. The Pinot Noir comes from Ay, Ambonnay, Bouzy and Cumieres. After a long yeast ageing period of 12 years, it is now at an attractive drinking window. It has the structure for long development. The edition is limited to 15,000 bottles. Gosset was once famous for Pinot Noir-dominated winey rosé champagnes. Today, the house uses significantly more Chardonnay and the house style is fresher and fruitier. The red still wines give the Celebris a very attractive aroma. We even prefer it to the white Celebris.
