Description
  • A great Pinot Noir Champagnes from old vines
  • Top rated by Richard Juhlin: 95

This wine is in transit to our cellars, therefore delivery takes a little longer.La Côte Glacière is a Blanc de Noirs that stands shoulder to shoulder with one of Deutz’s finest Champagnes, William Deutz. While William embodies the house’s signature elegance and seductive finesse, La Côte Glacière reflects the strength of its origins: a warm, steep, south-facing slope in Aÿ, the Grand Cru celebrated for its powerful Pinot Noirs. It is no coincidence that Bollinger chose Aÿ as both its home and a source of many of its prized vineyards.

Here, vines more than fifty years old plunge deep into the pure chalk soils, drawing on their mineral core. This chalky intensity provides a striking counterpoint to the richness and body of the site’s fruit. The result is a Champagne of remarkable duality: powerful yet refined, generous yet precise.

In its youth, La Côte Glacière offers enticing aromas of red berries, melon, pear, and apple, lifted by a saline, chalk-driven freshness on the palate. Over time, the wine promises to reveal even greater depth and complexity—beginning to show its full stature after five years, with a horizon of development stretching ten to twenty years ahead.

William Deutz La Cote Glaciere is a rare single-vineyard Champagne, produced in only a few thousand bottles as part of Champagne Deutz’s distinguished Hommage à William Deutz series. The collection is dedicated to expressing the character of the house’s finest terroirs in Aÿ. Since 2012, Deutz has vinified Meurtet and La Côte Glacière separately, capturing the singular personality of each parcel. Sourced exclusively from Pinot Noir grown on a south-facing slope with pure chalk soils, La Côte Glacière embodies both power and finesse.

Founded in 1838 by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, after William’s formative years at Bollinger, the house quickly established its own unmistakable identity. Deutz Champagnes are defined by elegance, harmony, crystalline fruit, and an exceptionally fine mousse—a style that shines through vividly in La Côte Glacière, affirming its place among the most compelling Blanc de Noirs in Champagne.
