Description
  • Chardonnay Champagne vinified in oak barrels.
  • Expressive and sophisticated in the style of Chablis and Puligny-Montrachet.
  • From one of the stars of the Champagne winemaking scene.

This wine is in transit to our cellars, therefore delivery takes a little longer. Aromas of butter, brioche, roasted almonds and white fruits, along with a subtle, spicy smoky note, make this Champagne an experience to savour.

Longitude is based on grapes from the Vertus, Oger, Avize and Cramant vineyards, all of which are located around the 4th meridian.

The must is pressed and, after slight clarification, goes entirely into casks and barrels from the Stockinger cooperage in Austria. When it comes to ageing in oak, Pierre Larmandier cites the influence of Domaine Leflaive in Puligny-Montrachet, but Anselme Selosse, who learned this technique in Burgundy and later brought it to Champagne, should also be mentioned. The wines also undergo malolactic fermentation in oak. They are neither filtered nor fined. After bottle fermentation, Longitude remains on the fine lees for at least two more years. It is then disgorged with 2 g dosage and stored for another year in the bottle before being released onto the market.

Ratings

92 Wineadvocate (review of the previous release): Based on the 2020 vintage and disgorged in November 2022, the new release of Larmandier's NV Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Longitude wafts from the glass with aromas of sweet citrus fruit, fresh pastry, green apple and flowers. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, its satiny attack segues into a racy, broad-shouldered mid-palate, concluding with a chalky finish

90(87) Richard Juhlin champagneclub.com A mix of Grand Cru and Vertus with a perpetual aging down to 2024. Deeper and more elegant than Latitude for obvious reasons. Very nice base and incredibly inviting character. A great non vintage wine for those of us who love Chablis, Burgundy and barrel-aged champagne.
