Ripe exotic fruit and an exciting interplay between fruit and acidity make this Riesling a delight.
The Peter Lauer Ayler Kupp Auslese 2017 - also known as Faß 10 - is a high-quality, single-varietal Riesling from the famous VDP Grand Cru site Ayler Kupp on the Saar. The grapes for the 2017 Auslese come from particularly ripe, partly botrytised berries from the top Ayler Kupp vineyard.
The aroma spectrum includes notes of ripe pear, grapefruit, mango, plus floral notes of orange blossom, coconut and light dried fruit notes (dates, dried apricots). The wine has an oily texture with concentrated fruit and a wonderfully focussed, fresh acidity that gives the wine freshness and structure. Traditionally matured partly in wooden barrels with fine yeast ageing to promote character and complexity.
