Personal advice
Pol Roger Brut Vintage 2008
Immediately after opening, the flavours of the yeast ageing disapper quickly and a mineral, firm Pol Roger Vintage 2008 appears that also has bracing acidity. Before declaring this gem too young, one should take a few hours to follow an astonishing development. The Pol Roger Vintage 2008 opens up and shows nuances of lemon, orange peel, nougat, hazelnut and yeasty brioche with a hint of nutmeg. The acidity is still very present and lingers endlessly, but supports a fruity freshness that makes you long for the next glass. The perlage is already fine and the palate feels creamy, but this is underpinned by an energetic, sparkling minerality. There is also a chalky mineral note on the nose. The Pol Roger Vintage 2008 is now in a good drinking window, but will continue to improve for a long time to come.
