Grande Dame 2012 hat eine feine Perlage und einen seidigen Gaumen. Aromatisch sind Vanille Gebäck, Aprikosen, Apfel, Nougat und rauchige Pinot Noir Noten präsent. Er hat Körper und Fülle aber auch eine gute mineralische Struktur. Das Trinkfenster ist von 2025 bis 2035+. 2012 ist nicht nur durch die künstlerische Gestaltung von Yayoi Kusama ein Neuanfang, sondern modernisiert auch vorsichtig den Stil ohne ihn aufzugeben. La Grande Dame erscheint weniger nussig und oxidativ, sondern fruchtiger und etwas weicher. Auch 2015 und 2018 liegen in diesem Trend. Dominique Demarville, hat die Anfänge dieser Modernisierung noch als Chef de Cave begleitet, war aber dagegen, sodass er Veuve Clicquot verlassen hat und inzwischen Didier Marotti Kellermeister ist.

Here, buttery notes dance together with the whole patisserie, all kinds of apple varieties, mandarin, nougat, white chocolate, peach marmalade and hazelnut cream in a completely harmonious way already. I will drink my bottles of this champagne much earlier than I will with the slowly evolving and much tighter 08'. This brilliant champagne is very reminiscent of how the later legendary 79' tasted like as newly launched. A bit more restrained at the second tasting.
