Der Pur Mesnil hat die mineralisch knackige Struktur dieses großen Terroirs, die aber bei Bonville nicht hart und karg ist, sondern eine seidige Fülle im Gaumen entwickelt. Wie Anselme Selosse liebt Olivier kräftige, konzentrierte Chardonnay Champagner. Dieser Champagner kann schon getrunken werden, aber steht erst am Anfang seiner Entwicklung.

Richard Juhlin champagneclub.com 94(90): 2000 bottles of each from Oger, Avize and Mesnil. It would be sacrilege to do anything other than traste the entire trio of Pur wines side by side. In 2018, they are more similar to each other than before, so we can assume that the character of the vintage dominates over the terroir this time. All three of them have a deliciously refreshing and showy airy fruit that is absolutely wonderful from the start. They are also more impressive in taste than in smell altogether. Mesnil also has a slightly lower dosage of 2 grams instead of 4 for the other two in the trio. The end result is that this wine stands out most with its slightly more pronounced petroleum tone and crunchy Meursault-like butteriness.
